Oil Change Interval

Unread postby CFA » Fri Apr 07, 2017 7:26 pm

When I bought my Ural the oil change interval was 2500km a few years later it jumped to 5000km
Is this because of improvements in the engine, in the oil. :sidecar1:

What oil do you use in your Ural?
I use the recommended 20W50 in mine.....and I change every 2500 kms.
Maybe the new oil filter system that they have on the newer ones get to make the 5000km jump.

A larger oil filter, tighter tolerances, better metallurgy and improved components in the motor have made the 5k intervals possible.

Been away for a while.
I was thinking back on my time in Germany. The French turbo Diesel car that I drove had an oil change interval of 10,000 Km in Germany and in France 20,000 Km. The explanation was that the Germans were willing to hand out more money for maintenance.

I was wondering as the oils improve do the Bike and auto manufactures update their maintenance schedules?
